Product Overview
AD5254 is a quad channel 256 position I²C non-volatile memory digital potentiometer. It perform the same electronic adjustment functions as mechanical potentiometers, trimmers, and variable resistors. The parts’ versatile programmability allows multiple modes of operation, including read/write access in the RDAC and EEMEM registers, increment/decrement of resistance, resistance changes in ±6dB scales, wiper setting readback, and extra EEMEM for storing user-defined information, such as memory data for other components, lookup table, or system identification information. It is widely used in application such as mechanical potentiometer replacement, low resolution DAC replacement, RGB LED backlight control, white LED brightness adjustment, RF base station power amp bias control, programmable gain and offset control, programmable attenuators, programmable voltage-to-current conversion, programmable power supply, programmable filters, sensor calibrations etc.
- Resolution is 8bits, –3dB bandwidth is 4MHz at (RAB = 1Kohm, code = midscale)
- Nominal resistance is 50Kohm, total harmonic distortion is 0.05% at (VA =1Vrms, VB = 0V, f = 1kHz)
- Power-on refreshed to EEMEM settings in 300µs typ
- EEMEM rewrite time is 540µs typ, VW settling time is 1.5µs at (VA = VDD, VB = 0V)
- Resistance tolerance stored in non-volatile memory
- 12 extra bytes in EEMEM for user-defined information
- Synchronous or asynchronous quad-channel update, 100year typical data retention, TA = 55°C
- Single supply voltage is 2.7V to 5.5V, dual supply voltage is ±2.25V to ±2.75V
- Resistor noise voltage is 20nV/√Hz at (RAB=50kΩ, code = midscale, f=1kHz, thermal noise only)
- Operating temperature range is -40°C to +105°C, packaging style is 20-lead TSSOP
